    The Lokpal and Lokayukta Act of 2013 provides for appointment of Lokpal and Lokayukta at Centre and states respectively to look into corruption against public servants. 
    The Chairperson and the members of the Lokpal shall be appointed by the President by warrant under his hand and seal, based on the recommendations of a selection committee.
    The selection committee is headed by the Prime Minister and has as its members:
o    The Lok Sabha Speaker.
o    Leader of the opposition in the Lower House.
o    Chief Justice of India or a judge of the apex court nominated by him; and
o    An eminent jurist who could be nominated by the president or any other member.
    The Lokpal has jurisdiction to enquire into allegation of corruption against all Group A, B, C and D employees, Member of parliament including Prime Minister. 
    However, in matters related to international relations, external and internal security, public order, atomic energy and space the Lokpal cannot conduct investigation against Prime Minister.
